US to Build Data Center Powered by 456 Small Nuclear Reactors

Project Beehive aims to provide energy for a massive data center serving AI systems.

The project, led by Valar Atomics, plans to use 456 small nuclear reactors with gas cooling to generate 9.6 GW of electricity.

This power capacity is more than twice the average capacity of the entire power grid in Utah, which currently generates an average of 4 GW and peaks at around 10 GW during the summer.

The data center, serving AI systems, requires a stable power supply, which standard power grids in the US cannot provide.
