Three Banks Fined for Network Security/Data Security Issues in August
Three banks were fined in August for network security/data security issues, marking the first batch of penalties for the second half of 2026.
According to a report by the Bank Technology Research Society, three banks received fines for network security/data security issues in August 2026. This is the first batch of penalties for the second half of the year, as no related fines were issued in July.
Notably, one of the fined banks is Beijing Zhongguancun Bank, a private bank that received a fine from the People’s Bank of China for network security and data security issues. This makes it the first private bank to receive such a fine in 2026. Beijing Zhongguancun Bank is the only private bank in Beijing and is positioned as the ‘first bank in the country to focus on serving technological innovation’.
