Thousands of Swiss Computers Vulnerable to Remote Access
An Austrian analysis reveals that 27.1% of remote access connections in Switzerland are unsecured.
An Austrian company found that one in four remote access Windows connections in Switzerland is vulnerable, with attackers able to reach the login screen without obstacles. This is a more severe situation than in Austria, according to the analysis. The company, Risikomonitor, attributed the cause to default settings from internet service providers and outdated systems.
The analysis found that 6,431 remote access Windows connections are at risk on the internet, with 1,458 cases where the system establishes a session for each connection request without requiring authentication first. This approach represents a significant risk, revealing information such as the computer and domain name to attackers and opening the door to automated attacks on vulnerabilities that can be exploited before the password is entered.
