Taiwan Develops AI-Powered System for Drone Fleet Coordination
Researchers complete simulation involving 20 aircraft for maritime surveillance and grey-zone activity countermeasures.
The system, funded by Taiwan’s Ocean Affairs Council, enables different drone types to autonomously divide tasks, plan routes, and coordinate movements.
The project focuses on three US-made VTOL drones: JUMP 20, V-BAT, and Flexrotor, integrating AI, flight dynamics, and swarm-control technologies.
A research team led by Taiwan’s National Cheng Kung University completed simultaneous flight simulations involving two fleets of 20 drones.
