South Korean Journalists and Language Experts Propose Simplified Terms for AI and Agriculture

A group of South Korean journalists and language experts have proposed simplified terms for AI and agriculture-related vocabulary.

The proposal includes replacing ‘AI’ with ‘์ธ๊ณต์ง€๋Šฅ’ (artificial intelligence), ‘๋”ฅํŽ˜์ดํฌ’ with ‘(์ธ๊ณต์ง€๋Šฅ) ์กฐ์ž‘์˜์ƒ’ (deepfake), and ‘๋ฒ„์ถ”์–ผ’ with ‘๊ฐ€์ƒ’ (virtual).

In the agriculture sector, terms such as ‘์‹œ๋น„’ (shibi) are proposed to be replaced with ‘๋น„๋ฃŒ์ฃผ๊ธฐ’ (fertilizer cycle), and ‘๋‚˜๋ผ์‹œ’ is suggested to be changed to ‘๊ณ ๋ฅด๊ฒŒ ๋งŒ๋“ค๋‹ค’ (to make something uniform).

The proposal aims to make complex vocabulary more accessible to the general public and to promote the use of simplified terms in news reporting and other fields.
