South African Music Rights Organisation Requires Disclosure of AI Use in Songs
Samro now requires members to disclose AI use in songs, but sets no minimum human contribution.
The Southern African Music Rights Organisation, Samro, now requires members to disclose how much AI went into a song when registering it with the body.
The rule is part of Samro’s response to a member survey, in which 89.2% of respondents said it should push for an AI protection law.
Samro is assessing whether to develop a more comprehensive policy, but no definitive implementation timeline has been confirmed.
