Social jetlag linked to preference for AI over human judgment
A study found that people with a mismatch between their internal clock and daily schedule are more likely to prefer AI over human judgment in certain situations.
The study, published in Computers and Human Behavior, found a link between social jetlag, social anxiety, and a preference for AI over human judgment. The researchers tested this link in four studies, where participants were presented with scenarios where they were being judged, such as job interviews, social media profile evaluation, and clothing reviews. The results showed that people with a greater social jetlag were more likely to prefer AI over human judgment, and that social anxiety was a key factor in this preference. The study suggests that the perceived objectivity of AI can make it a more appealing option in situations where human judgment is involved. However, the researchers note that the study’s findings do not imply that people with a mismatched sleep schedule are more likely to trust AI in all situations.
