Romania's Energy Companies Need Cybersecurity Investments
Energy companies in Romania need to invest in cybersecurity to protect their networks and infrastructure.
Romania’s energy companies need to invest in cybersecurity to protect their networks and infrastructure, according to the conclusions of the 4th edition of the Cybersecurity in Energy Forum held in Cluj-Napoca. The forum, organized by Distribuție Energie Electrică România, brought together over 450 participants and 50 speakers, including representatives of the central and European authorities, energy companies, technology experts, and academics. The five panels discussed policies, company management, technological solutions, and the preparation of personnel to ensure the functioning of infrastructure.
The director general of DEER, Mihaela Suciu, emphasized that cybersecurity should be treated as a direct responsibility of management, and that modernization of infrastructure and protection of networks should be planned together. She also highlighted the need for companies to prioritize and allocate resources for preventing attacks.
The forum also discussed the need for increased investment in infrastructure, with the secretary general of the National Authority for Regulation in the Energy Sector, Mircea Man, calling for investments in infrastructure as the only viable solution for Romania.
