Palantir and Sadiq Khan End Legal Fight Over £50m Police AI Contract
US tech firm and London Mayor's office settle dispute over £50m Metropolitan Police AI contract
The settlement sees both parties withdraw their allegations against each other, ending a months-long battle over the procurement of AI technology for criminal investigations.
The dispute began in May, when the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) blocked a proposed two-year deal that would have allowed the Met to use Palantir’s software to automate intelligence analysis and examine evidence.
The decision was based on concerns about how the Metropolitan Police had pursued the proposed contract, rather than Palantir’s values or wider media coverage of the company.
