Ocean Power Technologies and Stratum Holdings Sign LOI for Offshore AI Data Center

Ocean Power Technologies and Stratum Holdings have signed a Letter of Intent to build an offshore AI data center.

The LOI is for a proof-of-concept project to build an offshore data center powered by ocean energy, wind, and solar power. Ocean Power Technologies will provide Stratum Holdings with a non-exclusive license to use its PowerBuoy patent and a prototype of the PowerBuoy system. Stratum Holdings will provide the latest GPU assets, including NVIDIA B300 GPUs, and related integration technology and personnel.

The project aims to verify the technical feasibility of running edge AI inference and related tasks using only renewable energy generated by the PowerBuoy system, without being connected to the land or power grid. The initial work will focus on system integration, performance verification, and data collection for the proof-of-concept system.
