NVIDIA to Invest Additional $2 Billion in Europe, Promote Open-Source AI Models

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang announced plans to invest an additional $2 billion in Europe, with a focus on promoting open-source AI models and AI security. This investment is in addition to the $80 billion already invested in Europe over the past year. Huang emphasized the importance of Europe joining the AI competition and promoting open-source models.

Huang argued that open-source models are crucial as they can be adjusted according to different languages and sovereignty needs. NVIDIA has already invested in French AI startup Mistral AI, which develops open-weight models that can be freely used and modified by other developers.

The four French startups that received additional investment from NVIDIA each have different business focuses: Doctolib assists medical personnel with administrative tasks, Pigment develops commercial AI software, Entalpic uses AI for chemical and materials research, and Genesis AI focuses on machine learning AI.
