Nikkei falls 4.9% due to AI and US inflation
Tokyo's main stock index drops 4.9% due to AI-related companies and US inflation fears.
The Nikkei index fell 4.9% on Thursday, led by companies related to the artificial intelligence sector and concerns over a new US interest rate hike.
The index, which groups the 225 most representative titles of the Japanese market, lost 3,318.34 points, reaching 64,425.95 units.
The decline was triggered by disappointing US inflation data, which raised concerns about a new interest rate hike in the US.
