Nigeria's $7.5M Gates-backed AI Scaling Hub Showcases Five Organisations
The Nigeria AI Scaling Hub (NAISH) brings together five organisations developing AI solutions for healthcare, agriculture, and local languages.
The initiative brought together digital health provider mDoc, agritech platform Extension Africa, research enterprise Data Science Nigeria, language engine Awarri, and the Masakhane African Languages Hub to demonstrate how targeted machine-learning applications can solve tangible development challenges across the continent.
NAISH is backed by the Gates Foundation, which committed up to $7.5 million over three years to bridge the chasm between experimental prototypes and real-world national deployment.
The platform concentrates on critical public-interest sectors—principally healthcare, agriculture, education, and financial services—where automated tools can directly alleviate capacity deficits and improve service delivery.
