New Data Center to Improve Flood and Drought Monitoring

Bulgaria and Romania launch the Danube Risk project to enhance flood and drought protection through modern monitoring systems.

The project aims to improve early warning, prevention, and coordinated response to natural disasters. A new data center will be established to monitor meteorological and hydrological processes, enabling more accurate predictions of hazardous natural events.

The data center will provide institutions with more reliable information for planning preventive actions, and citizens and businesses will receive timely warnings of potential risks.

The project also focuses on natural solutions to reduce flood risks, including the restoration of natural floodplains and river terraces, which will allow water to flow and be stored naturally during high river levels.
