Microsoft Transforms Windows 11 Search Menu into AI Chatbot
Microsoft is turning the Windows 11 Search Bar into a natural-language chatbot, allowing users to control their PCs and converse with AI directly from the Task Bar.
The redesigned Search Menu enables users to execute thousands of system actions via short, typed commands. For example, typing “increase mic volume” immediately surfaces an interactive volume slider above the command line.
Users can also use the prompt bar to toggle system settings like Dark Mode and Do Not Disturb, send text messages through a paired smartphone, and chat directly with the new Copilot app without needing to open its standalone window.
The update is part of Microsoft’s Hybrid Intelligence framework, which enables PCs to run AI models locally, reducing latency and protecting user privacy.
