Microsoft's Azure Grows 48 Percent

Microsoft's cloud platform Azure saw a 48 percent increase in revenue, outpacing analyst expectations.

The strong growth was driven by increasing demand for cloud services, with Azure accounting for the majority of Microsoft’s revenue growth. Microsoft’s other cloud services, including Microsoft 365, also saw growth, with commercial cloud revenue increasing by 17 percent. The company’s investment in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure is also contributing to the growth, but is putting pressure on the company’s free cash flow.

Microsoft’s revenue for the quarter was $92.3 billion, exceeding analyst expectations of $90.74 billion. The company’s net income per share was $4.92, also higher than expected. The strong growth in Azure and other cloud services is a key driver of Microsoft’s success, and the company is continuing to invest in its cloud infrastructure to meet growing demand.

The company’s free cash flow for the quarter was $18.6 billion, down from $25.7 billion in the same period last year. This decrease is due to the company’s increasing investment in AI infrastructure, which is putting pressure on its free cash flow.
