Mexico Must Strengthen Cybersecurity to Support Digital Payments
Digital payments in Mexico require improved cybersecurity, reduced bank fees, and bridging the technological gap.
MarÃa del Carmen Corchado Reyes, president of the College of Economists, warned that Mexico’s digital payment transition must be accompanied by financial education, accessible infrastructure, and fraud protection mechanisms.
She noted that while digital payment models work in countries like Sweden, Norway, and Brazil, Mexico faces obstacles such as a lack of knowledge about banking apps, limited internet access, and generational differences in digital tool management.
To address these challenges, Mexico must strengthen its digital platforms to facilitate operations, reduce costs, and protect users from identity theft and unauthorized transactions.
