MBO schools in the Netherlands are preparing for the Cyberweerbaarheidspool, a collaborative effort to improve digital security. The pool is set to launch in October 2027 and will require schools to meet certain information security standards. To prepare, schools are working on implementing new processes and procedures to ensure they can demonstrate their compliance with these standards. One school, Graafschap College, is taking a holistic approach to cybersecurity, involving all departments in the effort. The school’s bestuurder, Michiel Gerlagh, believes that cybersecurity should be integrated into the daily work of the school. Another school, Summa, is working to integrate cybersecurity into existing work processes, making it a natural part of the school’s daily operations. VISTA college is taking a more proactive approach, regularly conducting exercises to prepare for potential cyber incidents. The school’s afdelingsmanager, Leon Sprooten, believes that cybersecurity is not just about preventing incidents, but also about being prepared to respond to them.
