Malicious Bot Traffic Surges 124% in a Year, Says DataDome

DataDome reports a 124% increase in malicious bot traffic over the past year, with scraping being the primary attack vector.

The traffic of malicious bots has increased by 124% in a year, according to DataDome. Jérôme Segura, VP of Threat Research at the company, explains that this growth is not due to declared crawlers from major AI actors, but rather from unidentified actors.

DataDome’s study found that 71% of malicious bot traffic is due to scraping, with 80% of AI agents not correctly identifying themselves when visiting a site. The study also found that AI impersonation has increased by 45% between February and July 2026.
