Malaysia poised for data center investment amid Middle East security concerns
Malaysia could see increased data center investment due to security concerns in the Middle East, according to SD Guthrie Bhd.
SD Guthrie Bhd has allocated 10% of its 210,000 hectares of land for industrial development and renewable energy projects, including data centers.
Johor has received significant data center investment, partly due to its proximity to Singapore, but electricity supply remains a constraint.
The Johor government plans to increase its solar energy generation capacity to 5 GW by 2030-31 to address power limitations.
