Kazakhstan to Introduce AI Skills Test for University Applicants
The Admission Insight Test will assess critical thinking, communication, and AI literacy skills in addition to subject knowledge.
The test will be divided into two functional parts, with the skills section complementing subject knowledge, not replacing it.
The director of the National Center for Testing, Nurbek Saitzhanov, noted that in the era of information availability, the value has shifted from knowledge to the ability to make judgments, as AI can process data faster than humans.
The project is being implemented in collaboration with the international organization ETS from 2026 to 2030, with a pilot launch planned for spring 2027.
