J Power Starts Distributed Data Center Trial with AI Processing

J Power has started a trial of distributed data center with AI processing at two locations, Yokohama and Kitakyushu, with the goal of reducing electricity costs and decentralizing data center demand in urban areas.

The trial uses data centers operated by Hitachi and SoftBank in Yokohama and Kitakyushu, with J Power responsible for predicting renewable energy generation and analyzing electricity market prices.

The goal is to move AI processing to areas with lower electricity costs, with plans to expand to multiple data centers across the country using optical fiber along train lines.
