IIJ to Utilize Data Center Batteries for Disaster Relief
IIJ and Matsue City will use data center batteries to power public facilities during disasters.
The batteries will be used as a backup power source for the data center, but also as a means to supply power to public facilities during disasters.
The system will use electric vehicles to transport the power from the data center to the public facilities.
The initiative is part of the Japanese government’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions and is expected to reduce the city’s carbon footprint by 2 days worth of electricity.
