Hong Kong Issues Guidance on AI-Powered Smart Glasses

Hong Kong's privacy watchdog issues guidelines on using AI-powered smart glasses to prevent covert collection of personal data.

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data published a guidance note on using AI-powered smart glasses in a privacy-respecting manner.

The watchdog warned that misuse of the camera-fitted eyewear could pose heightened privacy risks, particularly in sensitive locations such as hospitals and changing rooms.

The guide lists nine recommendations for users to respect privacy while using the device, including carefully reviewing privacy settings and avoiding using the device in sensitive locations.
