Chiu noted that Hong Kong provides financing, fundraising, and insurance services to other economies. This can help reduce trade costs for Apec economies while enhancing transparency and efficiency.

About 11 percent of people in Asia and one-third of the global population do not have internet access, and some places lack data centres, widening the gap between economies.
