Hackers heat French supermarket fridges, sparking fires and spoiling food in cyberattack

Hackers raised temperatures in hundreds of French supermarket refrigerators to 50°C, causing fires and spoilage.

The attack affected connected refrigerators in several major food retailers across France, leading to food losses and fires.

Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu has instructed France’s National Cybersecurity Agency (ANSSI) to investigate the attack.

France was coordinating with European counterparts to assess whether other French companies were at risk.
