Google Illegally Clears 250,000 Trees for Data Center in Finland
Google has cleared 250,000 trees in Finland for a data center, displacing wolves and sparking controversy.
The forestland has been cleared near the town of Muhos, in Northern Finland, south-east of Oulu, the country’s fifth-largest city. The area is now a barren expanse of muddy pools and heavy machinery tracks.
The project has been met with opposition from environmental groups, who argue that the clearing of the forest has caused significant harm to the local ecosystem and wildlife, including the displacement of wolves from their habitats.
