Google Cloud outage leaves Revolut customers unable to make payments
Thousands of Revolut customers in Bulgaria and across Europe were unable to access their accounts and make payments due to a Google Cloud outage.
The outage, which began at 09:08 hours Bulgarian time, affected 36 cloud services provided by Google Cloud, with the majority of the issues concentrated in the europe-west2 region, which serves London. The outage caused a ripple effect, impacting not only Revolut but also other major companies and institutions in the UK and Europe, including Royal Mail, DPD, BT, and Halifax.
Revolut confirmed that the issue was a technical one, unrelated to a security breach, and assured customers that their funds and data were safe.
In a statement, Revolut said that its engineers were working actively to restore full functionality to its services as quickly as possible.
