Ghana Urged to Strengthen Critical Infrastructure Resilience

The Ghanaian government has called for enhanced resilience of critical infrastructure, including OT systems, to prevent disruptions.

The existence of cybersecurity legislation alone does not guarantee the protection of critical infrastructure, as its resilience also depends on the technical and organizational capabilities of operators to detect intrusions and limit their effects.

The Ghanaian government has called for the reinforcement of critical infrastructure resilience, particularly OT systems used to monitor and control industrial equipment, which can directly affect the functioning of physical installations and disrupt essential service provision.

The country has a regulatory framework in place since the adoption of the Cybersecurity Act in 2020, but the effectiveness of this framework depends on the skills, procedures, and resources available to organizations to implement cybersecurity requirements.
