French Allocations Familiales' Vacaf Platform Hit by Data Leak
A cybersecurity incident affected the Vacaf platform, exposing data of beneficiaries, but no bank account details or passwords were compromised.
The Caisse nationale des allocations familiales (Cnaf) announced a data breach affecting the Vacaf platform, which provides financial assistance for vacations. The incident occurred on Friday, and access to the platform was suspended to prevent unauthorized access. A cellule de crise (crisis cell) was activated to handle the situation.
According to the Cnaf, the data breach does not affect the payment of benefits, and no bank account details or passwords were compromised. However, the organization has not confirmed the number of people affected, citing a lack of information.
The Cnaf has stated that it will inform individuals affected by the breach and provide recommendations to protect against potential scams, phishing, or identity theft. A complaint will be filed in the coming hours, and the organization will provide a consolidated view of the incident once available.
