Finland Launches Investigation into Google's Deforestation for Data Center Construction
Finland's police have launched a probe into alleged environmental law breaches by Google for its data center project in Muhos.
The Finnish police have started a criminal investigation into possible environmental law breaches by Google for its data center project in Muhos, a rural area in northern Finland.
The authorities suspect that Tuike Finland, a Google subsidiary, cleared and drained 330 hectares of forest in Muhos before completing the required environmental impact assessments.
The police investigation will examine, among other things, the circumstances surrounding the problems with drainage and water management at the data center project site.
