Developer Releases Open-Source Alternatives to Microsoft Office

WordCraft, a Word alternative, supports DOCX, ODT, RTF, HTML, Markdown, and plain text formats, and can export to PDF. It also includes features such as tables, headers and footers, tables of contents, footnotes, and references. The tool also supports traditional Chinese interfaces.

GridCraft, an Excel alternative, supports XLSX as its native file format, as well as CSV and TSV. It includes over 500 functions, including advanced functions such as LET, LAMBDA, MAP, and REDUCE, as well as features such as sorting, automatic filtering, quick fill, subtotaling, 17 types of charts, and page previews.

The tools are available for download on GitHub and can be used for free, with the option to modify and use them as needed. The developer, Brandon Thomas, has also hinted at potentially challenging other software services, such as Autodesk, in the future.
