Chinese AI tool used in attacks on Japanese enterprises
A Chinese AI-powered security tool, Artex, has been used in a series of hacking attacks on Japanese companies.
GMO Internet Group’s information security company, based in Tokyo, has confirmed that Artex was used in the attacks after investigating with external institutions.
The attacks targeted several dozen Japanese companies, including restaurants and car rental companies, potentially affecting hundreds of millions of customers.
GMO has shared information with law enforcement to prevent further damage and has discovered six internet servers used to launch AI-driven attacks, categorized by industry such as finance and e-commerce.
