China Launches Centralised National Data Group to Fuel AI Growth
Beijing establishes state-owned entity to tap into China's vast ocean of data for AI and economic growth
The venture, established on October 20, is headquartered in Xiongan New Area, Hebei province, and is supported by major state-backed enterprises.
Vice-Premier Ding Xuexiang described the move as a ‘major strategic decision’ to strengthen China’s competitiveness in AI and the digital economy.
Experts warn that the success of the venture will depend on tearing down entrenched data-sharing barriers.
