China Issues Guidelines to Accelerate AI Development and Curb Excessive Investment
China's new policy guidelines aim to strengthen technological independence and prevent speculative bubbles in emerging industries.
The guidelines place artificial intelligence at the centre of China’s plans to upgrade its economy and strengthen its technological capabilities.
Beijing wants breakthroughs in AI theory and core technologies, alongside improvements in the supply of computing power, algorithms and data.
The government also plans to establish national pilot bases for industrial AI applications, helping expand the technology’s use beyond software development and consumer products into manufacturing and other parts of the real economy.
