Chainalysis Discloses Cybersecurity Incident, Customer Data Accessed

Attackers accessed some customer details, including names and email addresses, but no sensitive information.

Chainalysis discovered the attack earlier this month and found no evidence that sensitive customer information was accessed. The attacker used ‘offensive agentic techniques’ to access internal tools. Chainalysis is still checking which customer records were accessed and will share more details with affected users.

The company has been working to fix vulnerabilities and strengthen its security systems, and has brought in third-party cybersecurity experts to help investigate the incident. Chainalysis is also using large language models as part of a wider review of its platform security.

Chainalysis has notified affected customers and warned them to be careful with unexpected password reset requests and login approval messages, and to enable two-factor authentication if they have not already done so.
