Artificial Intelligence Reconstructs Images Seen by Humans

Israeli researchers developed an AI system that can accurately reconstruct images seen by humans based on brain activity.

The system, called Brain-IT, uses functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data to learn how to reconstruct images from brain activity.

The researchers used a dataset of 73,000 connections between images and brain activity scans of eight volunteers.

The system was trained on two tasks: reconstructing images from brain activity and predicting the brain response to a given image.
