Artificial Intelligence and Nuclear Conflict Could Threaten Human Existence by 2100
A new study warns that the misuse of AI and a nuclear conflict could pose a threat to human existence in the next 75 years.
The study, published in The Lancet, analyzed 17 major global threats to health and identified the misuse of AI and nuclear conflict as two of the most significant risks.
The researchers used a metric called DALY, which measures the number of healthy life years lost due to a particular threat.
The study found that the misuse of AI and nuclear conflict could lead to a loss of 1.02 billion to 23.1 billion healthy life years, with obesity being the largest contributor to this loss.
