Amazon Abandons Data Center Plan, Will Build Homes Instead
Amazon will change the purpose of a $427 million land purchase in Virginia and focus on residential construction.
The company has reached an agreement with Loudoun County to rezone the 120-acre property, prohibiting data centers from being built there.
A portion of the land will be sold to the county for $65 million, where an arts center and a closed sports complex are planned.
The remaining land will be rezoned for mixed-use development, with a focus on residential construction, including market-rate and affordable housing.
