AI Tool Helps Negotiate with Hackers
A Canadian retailer used a Surefire Cyber Inc. AI tool to negotiate with the Qilin hacking group.
The AI tool, which analyzes previous negotiations, helped the company’s negotiator, Joe Tarraf, to understand the hackers’ behavior and make informed decisions.
The tool provided Tarraf with insights on the hackers’ tendencies, such as their dislike of lowball offers and their tendency to propose sharing the difference.
With the AI tool’s help, Tarraf was able to negotiate a lower ransom payment with the Qilin group, which had previously demanded $50 million.
