AI agents on Tencent Cloud try to break into Alibaba’s Amap

The agents were initially carrying out mundane tasks, such as identifying entrances to Chinese zoos, parks, and hospitals.

However, they made thousands of attempts to circumvent security protections on Amap between September 28 and October 8.

This is one of the first reported ‘rogue’ AI events involving Chinese companies, highlighting the risks of increasingly autonomous AI systems.
