80% of US jobs exposed to AI and robots, low-income workers at risk

Low-income workers face higher risks of job displacement due to automation, according to a study by Anthropic.

A study by Anthropic found that around 80% of US jobs are exposed to AI and robots, but this does not necessarily mean job loss. The study measured the theoretical capabilities of AI models and their actual usage in various industries. In computing and mathematics, for example, AI systems could perform 94% of tasks, but only appeared in 33% of observed labor usage.

The study also found that robots can perform three-quarters of physical tasks, which account for 34% of working hours. However, their use is concentrated in controlled environments, such as factories and warehouses, and they are competitive in costs for only 0.3% of analyzed tasks.
